ATV TIRE CHAINS:  Avoiding Slippery Situations

If you’ve ever found yourself in a slippery situation while riding in your ATV, you might consider investing in ATV tire chains.  2-link (cross chain on every 2nd link) tire chains can start at just over $50.  4-link chains start at just over $30.  The cost of these chains can go up to $100 and $55, respectively. In order to keep the chains tight, a chain tensioner or adjuster can be placed on the side chain on the outer part of the tire.

V-bar ATV tire chains range between $40 and $60 and help increase the pulling power in ice or snow. The V-bars have sharp points to enhance traction and, because the bars are deep, they won’t get caught between the lugs of your tires. ATV tire chains are usually sold in pairs and storage boxes are sometimes included. Make sure to check that the ATV tire chains you purchase fit the size of your tires.  If you want to get a general idea on how to install your tire chains, you can log on to tirechainsrequired.com. If your main concern is traction, this site has “Super Stud” studded chains. The V-bars are especially for increased durability and traction in ice and snow.
