ATV Carriers

Aside from trailers, another option for moving your ATV is the ATV carrier. Two things to consider are: 1) how much more space you need, and 2) the amount of weight that the carrier will need to support.  This may help you determine if a rack, carrier, or trailer would be more appropriate.  The majority of ATV carriers are suitable for the class III or IV hitch.  While most class III hitches are appropriate for 500 lbs, class IV hitches are good to support 700-1000 lbs.  If you purchase a ramp that goes along with the carrier, it may be possible to slide the ramp right onto the carrier.

Perhaps you just need to extend the bed of your truck.  In that case, an ATV carrier by ATVantage Outdoors may be a better choice for you.  Its carrier can hold over 400 lbs.  It weighs nearly 45 lbs and its platform is just under 50”, which is enough to provide an extra 3-4 feet of space.  This carrier is in the mid-$100 range and is more affordable if all you need is a little more space. This product is said to be suitable for all truck makes and models.  Many ATV carriers include some kind of warranty (i.e. 90-day factory warranty); be sure to ask about what is available.
